The Scarlet Plums came together when a few ladies decided it would be fun to have a Red Hat Society in the Big Valley Area. They made some flyers and posted them around the valley to see if anyone would be interested. They scheduled their first meeting in June and 12 ladies attended. They talked about what the Red Hat Society was all about and decided that it sounded like something the valley needed.
They held their second meeting four weeks later and their numbers had grown to about 20. Hats were ordered and a name was selected - The Scarlet Plums. The group was registered with the Red Hat Society and the Scarlet Plums were official.
Word got around and soon the Scarlet Plums numbered over 40 members. The group is made up of both red and pink hatters and ages ranged from 39 to 89. The Scarlet Plums have been together for only a year, but what a fun year it has been. We look forward to many more to come.
